Discover Local & Regional Artists

Wings Over Alma is a place to see artwork by local and regional artists. By acquiring their work, you may add to (or begin!) your personal collection. These innovative and educational mix of exhibition projects are based on themed shows, solo exhibitions and an annual Artist Member group exhibit. As a non-profit center, we strive to support and make connections between individual artists, prospective buyers and the community. Also, enjoy Wings Over Alma’s permanent collection including many fine local and regional artists, such as John Runions.

Summer 2024

Artist Jo Ann Meyer

While growing up on a farm in Avon , Minnesota, I first began to realize that I loved to color and paint whenever I had spare time.  I sought ways to interpret the beauty that I saw in the countryside onto paper or canvas.  By high school I was experimenting with all forms of art, especially learning the proper ways to use oils in painting and I even tried my hand in pottery.  During this time, I received a great deal of encouragement from my high school art teacher which was helpful in my development.

For the most part I am mostly self taught,,but about 15 years ago I took a week long water color course from the famous artist, Mary Whyte.  I fell in love with this form of painting and found it to be both challenging and motivational.

I have found much happiness in painting and have displayed my works in many local galleries and art fairs.  Today, much of my inspiration for my paintings come from either my flower gardens or the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge.

I hope that you enjoy my work.

Artist Sue Percuoco Prussing

I was born in Winona, Minnesota. I grew up in Caledonia, Minnesota. I
live now in Fountain City, Wisconsin. I went to college at The College
of St. Teresa in Winona where I took as many art classes that I could
fit into my busy schedule. I received my Master’s degree from UW
EauClaire. I worked as a Speech/Language Pathologist for about 30
years.

I used my art in many ways in my career. In my free time, I took art
classes in drawing, water color, pottery, oil painting and acrylics. Most
of my art was for family and friends.

When the Covid Pandemic caused us to quarantine, I had a difficult
time since I am a very active person. Isolation was very difficult for
me. Painting saved me! I was inspired by those who made face
masks for medical personnel and others who needed them. I
completed four floral paintings inspired by my recent travels to New
Zealand. These were sold online and the profits were given to 3
struggling businesses in the area.

I continue to paint and draw and it has become an important part of
my life.

The paintings in this show are inspired by my home area and my
travels to the Gulf Coast, New Zealand, and Morocco.
